Description of the sculpture:

The outer sculpture depicts two hollow wire-frame adults, a man and a woman, sitting in opposite direction with their backs facing each other (representing the reclusive and independent nature acquired in adulthood) whose shoulders are slumped in anguish and despondency, giving off the impression of being burdened by the weight of pain and grief in the world. Constructed out of raw rebar (a product of the modern industrial world), these cold, rigid silhouettes demonstrate how adulthood concepts (like ego, prestige, and independence which are mainly products of societal standards and values) work as a cage that restricts and oppresses our innate loving nature.

In contrast, our inner selves are executed in the form of two transparent children who are standing erect, facing one another, and trying to touch each other through the grate. And, unlike the adults who are restricted to their place because of the rebars (symbol of minds that are set in their ways and stubborn to change), the children are made of transparent materials (symbol of innate purity, innocence, and sincerity), and as the surroundings get darker and night falls (times of distress), they start to glow and radiate their light and warmth much further away in all directions (which creates a welcoming feeling and demonstrates how love can overcome barriers & limitations and allow people to connect during times of difficulty).
